MVCAC Online Presentation: Fish Disease Management and Biosecurity

Overview

This presentation will cover, but not be limited to, identification and description of various fish pathogens and diseases, treatment and management of fish pathogens and diseases, recommended biosecurity measures and tips for maximizing best aquaculture hygiene, and examples of common mosquitofish diseases and their treatment.

Attendance

Attendance will be limited to 95 people, on a first-come, first-serve basis. Attendees are eligible to earn 2.0 units of Category D toward their VCT Certification. This presentation will be recorded for later viewing.

Presenters

Paul Curtis (AquaSolver: Owner): Mr. Curtis has over 40 years of experience in aquaculture, fish nutrition, aquaculture systems design, biofiltration, water quality management, fish husbandry, and fish pathology and pathogen/disease management. Paul was also a featured speaker at one of our Live Unit CEU sessions held in Ontario in April 2014 and has instructed both aquaculture and fish disease workshops for MVCAC membership in 2014, 2015, and 2018.

Michael Saba: Mr. Saba has over 16 years of experience as a Biologist at the Orange County Vector Control District and manages their Mosquitofish Program. Mike also has over 20 years of experience in aquaculture, has hosted and instructed numerous workshops and chaired multiple symposia at MVCAC and other conferences/events, and has served as the Chair of the MVCAC Mosquitofish and Biocontrol Subcommittee for over 10 years.
